Black Bears- Bears are present in New Jersey. During your stay at the park, all coolers and food related items must be stored in the trunk of your vehicle at all times. Garbage should be promptly removed from your campsite and put in the dumpsters provided.
Minimum Age - Camping facilities and sites must be reserved by at least 1 person 18 years of age or older, who shall occupy and be responsible for the facility or site during the rental period.
Occupancy- Each site can accommodate a maximum of 6 people (including visitors). Visitors are allowed at camping facilities between 8am and 8pm. Visitors must pay the daily entrance fee (seasonally).
Vehicles- 2 vehicles are permitted on each campsite. All vehicles must be registered upon checkin and they must park in designated gravel areas. The make, color, license plate and state of registration for each must be provided at check in. *Parking for additional vehicles is availible in a nearby overflow lot for an additional charge of $5/night/vehicle. Please contact the park office for specific details.
Quite Hours - From 10 p.m. until 6 a.m., quiet hours are strictly enforced. Violators of this policy may be evicted.
Generators- Outside designated quiet hours, generators may be used. If the use of a generator is deemed unreasonably loud by the facility staff then individual use of a generator may be prohibited/limited.
Fires/ Firewood -Fires must be kept within the rings provided. Only dead and down wood may be used for fuel. No chainsaws are allowed in park, and cutting down trees, alive or dead is prohibited. Firewood is sold at the park office and may be purchased in advance of your reservation.
Swimming- The designated swimming beach is closed for the 2024 Season. *Each year the park makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice.
Boating- Boats are restricted to having a 10 Horsepower or less on Reservoir. *Reservoir Levels may fluctuate depending on rainfall and demand down stream for drinking water.
Waterfront access in campgrounds is limited to campers registered in those specific sites. If you are a registered camper, and have a canoe or kayak, and you are not staying on a "waterfront site" you can use the campers car top launch located between sites 20 and 23 in the campgrounds.
Shelters- If you are staying in a shelter, please make sure you have your 4 digit access code prior to arrival. It is on your confirmation email. You can confirm this upon checkin at the park office.
After Hours Arrival- If you intend to arrive after the park is closed for the day, call the office for specific entry details at 908-638-8572. If you arrive after office hours you must check in the following morning by 9:00am.
Waterfront campsites, restrooms with showers, a trailer sanitary dump station, a boat launch, a car-top boat launch, boat rentals, and great fishing are just a few highlights that make this recreation area a popular destination.
5 miles to the town of Clinton, NJ and the historic Clinton Red Mill. Close proximity to many outdoor pursuits, such as hiking, cycling, fishing, hunting and boating. 1.5 hrs from New York City Lots of wonderful local restaurants and shopping.
Six picnic areas spaciously located in wooded and open areas overlooking the reservoir. Includes tables, charcoal grills and restroom facilities. For larger groups, we also offer a Group Picnic Area, by reservation only. The reservoir is a popular destination for motor boating (10hp limit), sailing (30 feet above the water line height limit), canoe/kayaking, and windsurfing. The park has its own boat launch and car-top launch areas. Boat rentals are available seasonally. Twenty-nine species of fish are contained within the waters of Spruce Run including largemouth bass, catfish, sunfish, yellow perch and carp. Trout, northern pike and hybrid bass are stocked by the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife. From the pathways throughout the park one can enjoy year-round birding.
